Search Engine Optimisation
It's been over a month since we relaunched our website with a focus on optimising the site for the search engines and improving our Google page ranking.

And the results have been amazing. As the optimisation is an ongoing process we still expect improving results, especially in the hotly contested key phrase searches, where the results have not been as good as these:

Brisbane Web Design Company - 4th
Product Photographer Brisbane - 1st
Copywriter Brisbane - 5th
Editing Brisbane - 1st
Proofreading Brisbane - 3rd
Brisbane Email Marketing - 13th

The success of the search engine optimisaton has resulted in traffic increasing to our site by 400%. Now that can't be bad for business can it?!

We Look Different
So, yes, you may notice that things look a little different around here now. We've gone and given ourselves a fresh new look and done a major update on our somewhat out-of-date website.

Why have we changed? Well that's easy to answer.

Firstly our old website really suffered from lack of love, out of date work, no updates - you know the drill... All the things that we tell you a good website shouldn't be! So slightly embarrased that we were telling our clients one thing and doing another thing ourselves, we couldn't help smile at the irony and decided it was time to practice what we preach.

So we set about the change. We've really given the whole site a fresh lick of paint, updated all our work, highlighted our services more and put a lot of effort into creating a more accessible "us". We're putting a lot more focus into regular updates in our blog to showcase what we are working on and more importantly to open up an easy channel for you to communicate with us. We love to hear what people think about what we do, so please post like mad!

Secondly, we have undertaken the redesign as a demonstration project. To demonstrate what? Well, search engine optimisation hopefully!

In 2003 when we launched Hello Media, we were in a bit of a rush to get our old website up and running, in fact if I remember correctly it was 48 hours from concept to online. At the time we decided to just get the site up and running first and then to come back when we had time to optimise it for the search engines. Unfortunately we were just so busy on client work we never got back to do that.

So the result, well Google will tell you that... For a search phrase that we would want to be appearing under like "Brisbane Web Design" we just didn't even come anywhere. In fact we got so bored of clicking "next" to try and find us that we gave up, deciding that Google hated our site so much it wasn't even on there!

And that's where our experiment starts. We've rebuilt the entire site from the ground up, based on a solid platform of search engine optimisation techniques. We can't wait to see what happens.

Why did we do this? Well there's 2 reasons really, one is obviously to try and get us appearing higher in search engines and secondly we want to use it as a showcase to our clients, and future clients, on what improvements in search engine rankings optimisation actually has.

So let's take 2 phrases that we've looked at improving our Google ranking for: "Brisbane Website Design" and "Brisbane Web Design". Ok, so yes, there are hundreds and hundreds of websites we are competing with so we are not expecting miracles. However, with a starting position of "I'm so bored of clicking through pages to find us I want to go to sleep", we are looking for a remarkable improvement.

Every month we will look at our ranking and post the results here.

We hope you like our new look and our much improved website. Remember to keep coming back to see what we are up to... We will be adding new blog articles whenever we can. Over the next few weeks we will be transferring across all the articles from our old website too so there should be plenty to waste a few minutes of your day with.
